Freyberg Students Writing for Local Newspaper

As part of Freyberg's development program for the gifted and talented, Freyberg students are now writing for local newspaper "The Guardian". The English department has submitted several pieces of top writing to the weekly newspaper, the first of which was chosen to be printed on the 27th of March.

Promising Year 11 writer Matthew McEwen was the author of the first article to be printed. His piece was called "Time to put our jersey's on" and was a well written and insightful opinion piece about the current state of New Zealand sport.

Freyberg's English department works hard at identifying gifted and talented students, and then providing extra opportunities to extend these students. You can see proof of this in Matthew's and other students work in Thursday's "The Guardian" newspaper.
