Girls Volleyball Bronze in division at Nationals

The 40th National Volleyball Tournament was held here in Palmerston North last week, with a record 145 school teams entering from all over New Zealand.

Having trained since early January for this tournament, Freyberg's senior girls team managed to win six of their nine games. A narrow semi final loss meant they were placed third equal in their division of 16 teams, receiving a well-earned bronze medal.

Freyberg's boys team won four of their games and were unfortunate to miss out on a quarterfinal on "countback". Jonas Boesl was a star player for the boys' team, performing well in the tournament before he heads back to Germany at the end of the term.

Coaches Mr Yang and Mr Harbott have only just recovered their voices after five days of yelling in support of their teams.
