Athletics Preliminaries

The weather cleared just in time for a perfect Athletics Preliminaries day aimed at finding the school's top track and field athletes.

Split into houses and age groups, students participated for house points in jumping, throwing and running events. Top competitors in each event were aiming to qualify for Athletics Finals on the 5th of March.

Many dressed up for the day, with soft toys, pom poms and flags making popular accessories. Body paint, stockings and capes were common as the houses attempted to out-chant and out-dress each other.

For some, the highlight of the day was qualifying for events, for others it was having a go at something new, like shot-put or javelin. For another group of senior boys, the highlight of the day was stealing another house's flag and sneaking it into a rubbish bin - and then defending their own flag from such defamation.
