Freyberg Arts Week Shows Talent
Featuring Photography, speed-drawing, Wearable Arts, Singing and Musicians, the arts week was a popular and competitive event at Freyberg this week.
The Photography competition based on a "Seven deadly sins" theme, had a
great number of entries, ranging from the clever and insightful, to the
creative and abstract. Winning photographer - Adelle Kendall of Ruahine, won
with a glamorous self-portrait.
The "Quick on the Draw" pictionary-styled knock-out competition, saw a controversial final round being repeated, before Mary Flemmer of Kapiti House emerged victorious with her sketch of red carpet.
The "Freyberg's Got Talent" lunchtime concerts saw the best entries from
each school house perform in the hall on Thursday and Friday this week. The
400 students who managed to squeeze into the hall before the doors were shut
were entertained by comedic classical music, beatboxing and rock bands.
Tararua house put in two good bands, but couldn't quite compete with the
incredibly talented beat-boxing of Josh Edwards (Ruahine House). Showing a
few new tricks, Josh demonstrated his amazing and entertaining sound making
skills which saw him almost win the "New Zealand's Got Talent" national
competition.
