Freyberg Win Polyfest Cultural Competition

Freyberg beat off strong competition to win the main event at the Polyfest cultural competition with their selection of polynesian singing and dancing.

The 50 students who represented Freyberg at this Central North-Island competition, practiced and fundraised for three and half months leading up to the big day at The Regent theatre. Among Freyberg's other achievements at the festival were a first placing in 'Tongan Speech' competition, and a second placing in 'Visual Arts'.

Pacific Island's teacher, Tangi Utikere was pleased that "all the hard work and determination students put into preparing for the event came through on the day". He also believed that "much thanks was owed to the family and tutors from the community for their support in practicing and fundraising"
