Bio-Geo trip to Tongariro

Around 75 Year 13 students headed north this week as part of up annual Biology-Geography trip to the Tongariro national park for a week of mountains, rocks, freezing water and long tramps.

As well as Biology and Geography studies, students had a go at White Water Rafting, the Tongariro-Ngaauruhoe crossing and some Gumboot throwing. Broken into groups named after types of rocks, one of the main things learnt was "the longer you walked to get to a freezing lake or waterfall, the more reason there is to swim in it."
