Brehm the Bavarian breaks record at Athletics Finals
Bavarian Andy Brehm won several races including a school record for the 400m at Freyberg's Athletics finals
today. The Massey Athletics Track was filled with colour and noise as Brehm
and the best of Freyberg's athletic talent took to the track and field
events.
Racing in a blue shirt that read "I'm not German, I'm Bavarian", Andy was quick to point out his javelin throwing was quite poor, amidst winning the 200m, 800m, hurdles and 400m in a record 52 seconds. "It's so cool to run here when so many people cheer at you." said Andy.
The other record broken on the day was a hammer thrown by Natalia Peiponen which went so far, a second 50m tape measure was required to measure it.
Tararua and Kapiti houses introduced their Haka and Dance respectively - showing some house pride and creativity. Not surprisingly these two proud houses were coming first and second in the day's overall results shortly before the end of the day. The staff vs students relay was comfortably won by the staff as tired and well sunned students packed onto the buses home.
