Athletics Finals 2011

Josh Edwards With records broken, glorious sunshine, a lunchtime concert and even a special appearance from the pacmen, Freyberg's Athletics Finals at Massey's track were an exciting and enjoyable experience for all.

Results:

Senior Boy, Josh Edwards set a blistering record of 50.9 seconds in the 400m, after plenty of personal training at the Athletics club.
Junior Girl, Sarah Seumanu threw 10.82m in the shotput, more than 3 metres futher than her next competitor - easily achieving a school record.
The staff vs students relay was a photo finish, with the house captains edging out the teachers by less than a metre.
Early results look like Tararua house comfortably won the overall event, with the other three houses fighting out for second place.

For many students however the day was about dressing up and celebrating house pride. Costumes included a ninja, a lion, a duck, several pacmen, a hippie, policewomen, lots of red lycra, mexicans, santa elves, presents, wizards, knights, the Joker, butterflies, and celery.
