Freyberg Girls Donate Hair For Teenage Cancer
A
pair of Year 9 girls had their heads shaved to raise around $2000 for
teenage cancer this week. In a well organised campaign, Jade Gunn and Sienna
Nealon, recruited Justin and Kendall from MoreFM to shave their hair in The
Plaza this week. Over a dozen other businesses sponsored the girls, including
Decadence hair salon, who cleaned up the patches and tufts left particularly
by Justin.
For a pair of young women who are barely teenagers, the willingness to part with their hair is about as impressive as their ability to raise such a sum for charity. Impressed with the initiative shown, Freyberg dedicated a mufti day to their chosen cause - increasing their total to around $3000 donated to Canteen.
Asked about appearing without her shoulder-length hair, Jade replied she saw beauty as something that comes from within, and that she didn't need her hair to like herself and how she looked.
